ClassicPress Version 2.5.0 is Out!

We’re delighted to announce the release of ClassicPress 2.5.0!

This version focuses on eliminating reliance on the obsolescent backbone.js library and on replacing old code that relies on jQuery with modern HTML5 and (if required) vanilla JavaScript. As well as helping to future-proof the code, this makes admin pages load faster, and they become interactive significantly faster too. The following have, accordingly, been re-written:

  • Media Image widget
  • Media Gallery widget
  • Media Audio widget
  • Media Video widget
  • Playlists within the Text widget
  • Themes screen

Other New Features

Other new features include:

  • The Media Grid now fully supports touch navigation.
  • Support for ‘Initials’ and ‘Color’ Gravatar has been added and HTTPS enforced.
  • New polyfills have been introduced for new array functions in PHP 8.4, so that these new functions can be used in ClassicPress without causing problems for those on older versions of PHP.

Fixes and Updates
